Hot Priyanka supports Dashing John

Priyanka Chopra has finally come out to defend John Abraham against the charges that he is not promoting his upcoming film 7 KHOON MAAF.

Priyanka's latest comments have come at a time when there has been a tirade of accusations against John for acting selfish. According to Priyanka, John and all the other male leads of the film were never supposed to be part of the promotions from the beginning itself.

The film promotion was always premised on Priyanka's character Sussanna.

Priyanka says, "I have read the news about John not being part of promotions for 7 KHOON MAAF. But, the fact is that he was never supposed to be promoting the film as Vishal sir had already made up his mind to keep the male star cast away from promotional activities."

she said, "Now, reading about controversies surrounding this makes no point when the fact is something else."

Apart from the excitement that is palpable on Priyanka's face regarding the release of her film, the actress is also gung ho about her film with Kunal Kohli about which she wants to reveal little for the moment.

Patiala House turned-out to be a hit

PATIALA HOUSE has done something which not many could see coming from a long distance - It has fetched its makers some of the best reviews ever of their career.

With majority of notable critics handing over good to very good reviews to this week's release, the game has just begun for PATIALA HOUSE which did depend upon feedback which is generated through word of mouth.

Comments a senior crew member of PATIALA HOUSE, "We all did well on the film but were still anxious to know the kind of reviews that PATIALA HOUSE would get. Since the film's promotion was controlled and the team had instead decided to let the word of mouth do all the talking, it was imperative that reviews were good. This has now happened with almost all reviews being totally positive."

This has also meant that years after NAMASTEY LONDON, Akshay Kumar has seen unanimous appreciation coming for his act in PATIALA HOUSE.

His subtle portrayal of 'Gattu' has been picked by critics as well as audience alike which has resulted in him gaining immense appreciation even from hisetractors. For Nikhil Advani too, it has come as a shot in the arm after CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA.

Says a close associate, "It was a matter of time before Akshay showed to the world all over again that he was open to roles which pushed him beyond a comic guy.

He has showed his somber side in films like EK RISHTA, JAANWAR and DHADKAN earlier on as well.

Now that he has gone a step ahead in PATIALA HOUSE, it is being touted as a new facet of his acting capabilities."

Resultantly, after a not-so-encouraging start on Friday, the collections have (expectedly) started showing escalation now.

Positive reviews coupled with word of mouth has meant that this family film has enjoyed a breather for itself by means of enhanced collections over the weekend and a positive stay at the box office on weekdays as well.

Saif advised Kareena not to use 'M' word

The surfeit of media reportage on the Saifeena engagement/marriage has finally got to Saif.

He has requested his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor and everyone around her not to speak to the media on the subject of their impending marriage. "Don't use the 'M' word," the Junior Nawab of Pataudi has cautioned everyone.

In her interviews from the start of 2011, Kareena has tried her best to stay clear of all questions about marriage because she didn't wish to upset her beau. "But the engagement story in a newspaper earlier this week is the final straw that broke the camel's back," says an insider.

The insider from Saifeena's camp called BT to say, "Both of them have had it up to here with these constant marriage and engagement stories; especially this news report on how Kareena preferred to get engaged rather than get married. Honestly, it is the same newspaper that a while ago carried the story that Saif and Kareena were married. If the marriage story is true, then the engagement one is false. Neither of the stories were substantiated."

News has it that the huge rock that Kareena is wearing on her engagement finger has been given to her by Saif three years ago when they had just begun their relationship. The insider said, "Saif gifts Kareena jewellery quite often. Everytime he gifts her a diamond or an emerald, it doesn't really qualify as an engagement or pre-wedding gift."

Stay away from drugs: Dharmendra

Yesteryears' star Dharmendra Tuesday advised young Punjabis to stay away from drugs and to concentrate on sports that require physical stamina and energy.

"Many Punjabi youths are falling prey to drugs. This is one of the major reasons why Punjabis are not performing at par with their Haryana counterparts in international tournaments," Dharmendra told reporters here Tuesday.

"I appeal to Punjab youths to stay away from drugs and divert their minds by indulging in tough games that require a lot of energy. I have come to Punjab to inaugurate an international-level wrestling tournament and I am very happy to become part of this initiative," he added.

Dharmendra, who was known as 'Garam-Dharam' in Bollywood, will inaugurate a Feb 10-12 wrestling event Shaheed Bahagat Singh International Wrestling Tournament, at Jalandhar.

According to the organisers, as many as 300 wrestlers from 20 countries are participating in the cash-rich tournament in which Rs.30 lakh would be distributed among the top three players.Dharmendra had spent his early life in Punjab's Sahnewal village which has now become a town near Punjab's industrial city Ludhiana. His father was a school headmaster.

Dharmendra also had some advice for the Indian cricket team for the forthcoming World Cup.

"I wish them best of luck. I want India to repeat the 1983 feat of Kapil Dev-led team. They should play with full aggression and then sky would be the limit for them," he said.

Patiala House premiere in Patiala on 10th February, 2011

Plans of hosting a lavish premiere of Patiala House in Mumbai and London later this week have been put off in favour of a new venue - Patiala.

Thanks to the initiative taken by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, the event has been shifted there.

"Yes, we are shifting the premiere related stories to Patiala on the Punjab CM's request. It will be held at the SRS Cinema in "Patiala on February 10. Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma and I will be flying down to Patiala for the premiere," said the film's director Nikhil Advani.

Apparently the minister happened to meet Akshay at a function in Punjab last week and the two got talking about Patiala House, which is releasing Friday.

"Parkash Singh Badal wondered why the premiere of Patiala House should not be held in Patiala. Isn't it the most logical thing in the world to have premiere of Patiala House in Patiala? Akshay and director Nikhil Advani were stumped. Within minutes everything was decided," said a source.

Incidentally while Akshay and Rishi, who are playing Sikhs in Patiala House, are full-blooded Punjabis, the film's leading lady Anushka is not a Punjabi but is often mistaken for one.

"I don't know if the Punjab CM thinks Anushka to be a Punjabi. But at the moment we're all Punjabis including me (actually a Sindhi)," said Advani.

Sonali Bendre goes pentyless after Yana Gupta

While Yana Gupta's wardrobe malfunction appearance continues to haunt the tabloids, a similar scandal has rocked the tinseltown.

The demure Sonali Bendre left nothing to imagination when she made a panty-less appearance at Karan Johar's party.

Dressed to kill in a little black dress, the actress related stories was caught sans underwear by the photographers, reports SamayLive.

Bendre, who is married to director Goldie Behl, sat next to her family friend Aishwarya Rai, totally unperturbed by the brouhaha surrounding the faux pax.

SonaliOn being asked by reporters, the actress reportedly saucily retorted, "I am happy that you saw it."

Seems like after Rakhi Sawant and Yana Gupta, it's Sonali Bendre's desperate attempt at cheap publicity.

‘Ranbir at my place? What a lie!’

On Wednesday morning, a Mumbai tabloid reported that actor Ranbir Kapoor was in girlfriend Katrina Kaif’s house on January 24, when Kaif’s house was raided by the Income Tax department.

Furious about the reports, Kat tells us, "This is absolute rubbish and a lie. If anyone was there, it would have
been reported immediately and not 10 days later."

Remaining tight-lipped about her equation with Ranbir, 26-year-old Kat is pragmatic when it comes to happily ever afters. "Do I see myself married in two years? I don’t really know. I think by the time I’m around 33, I should be having kids. But you can’t plan it. I do want to get Katrinamarried, but do I want to have a child grow up without a father? No. I think you need more security," says the actor in an interview in the February issue of men’s magazine, GQ.

Though she sizzled as an item girl in Sheila Ki Jawani, she says for someone who lives through newspapers, overt display of sexuality is out. "I’m not comfortable beyond a certain line of sensuality," she says. "I think it can be offensive to certain sectors of your audience. It’s important that it comes across as you."

Her reluctance to open up extends to her wildly nomadic childhood. Born in Hong Kong, she moved out with her British mother Suzanne Turquotte, a veteran NGO activist, when she was two or three, spending time in France, Japan, and then Hawaii by the age of 11, before arriving in London at 13.

"I have a lot of feelings of being lost and shy and isolated. I felt alien," she says.

Are you ready for this Joker?

The Twitter world is quite a busy one, and Bollywood contributes a great deal to it. Here's looking at the best star tweets of the day.

The cast for Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder's Joker is all ready. The movie now stars Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Shreyas Talpade and Minissha Lamba in the lead roles. Darshan Jariwala will play Akshay's whacko father in the movie.

Shirish tweeted: 'Minissha Lamba has been cast as the heroine opposite Shreyas Talpade in JOKER.'

The first schedule of the 3D film is to be shot in Chandigarh. 'First schedule of JOKER to be shot in Chandigarh now. Not Ludhiana. This is due to some practical issues. JOKER has a very unusual premise.
Nervous and excited about it,' Shirish tweeted over the weekend.

Dev Anaand says, "I will work till something happens to me"

"I am sure you are excited to meet me for the first time, but I am doubly excited to see you for the first time, because I learn from you. You are the inspiration for my stories, I get my characters from you," says Dev Anand, a charmer even at 87, as he invites me into his Khar office in suburban Mumbai.

Dressed like a suave gentleman he sits behind a pile of files, some foreign chocolates and biscuits boxes, looking like the quintessential aging star, not the simple man he calls himself. 'I am very simple man. I am so well dressed today because I am going for a television interview. I am not dressed like a hero everyday,' he says.

The evergreen hero, who is busy with the release of his film Hum Dono Rangeen, the colour version of his 1961 film Hum Dono, discusses the film and his incredible journey with Patcy N.

You won't feel that it is an old film. If you see any Navketan [his production house] film, it is futuristic.
People have always complained that we have made films ahead of times. Hum Dono is still modern. We had wars then and we have wars today. We had love and separation then and we have that today. Added to all these things you have a double role of Dev.

Other black and white films have also been released in colour, but Hum Dono is better than all of them.
When you watch Hum Dono Rangeen you will feel as though it was shot in colour, you won't feel that I have got the reels painted by brush. That's why I fell for it. They [Goldstone Technologies Ltd] have asked for all my other films too, but I am waiting for the release of Hum Dono. I will give other films after the response to it.
